Programma della lezione

– Dental casts: printed or in plaster

– Impression taking techniques: digital impressions vs analogical impressions

– Pliers selection: bird beak, straight plier, half round plier, etc

– Wires selection (0.7mm/0.0028, 0.8mm/0.0032, 0.9mm/0.0036)

– Minimum prerequisite of casts to construct functional appliances

– Protocols of wire bending. Basic wire bends: 


- "U" turn

- Bend by 90°.


– Force application.The contact point of the appliance with the tooth:


- Bodily movement

- Inclination.


– Designing and positioning of the expansion screw on the functional orthopedic appliance

– Fabrication of Coffin spring

– Dealing with acrylic materials

– Grinding and polishing of acrylic.

Ha conseguito un PhD in Mechanical Engineering con specializzazione in Bioengineering presso la Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, UFMG. La sua ricerca collega odontoiatria e ingegneria nello sviluppo e nella validazione di apparecchi ortopedici funzionali, incluso uno studio retrospettivo sugli esiti del trattamento con ortopedia funzionale dei mascellari nei pazienti con TMD pubblicato nel Journal of Jaw Functional Orthopedics and Craniofacial Growth. È coautore dell'Atlas of Construction of Orthopedic Functional Appliances, edizione portoghese. È membro della Academy of Dentistry of Minas Gerais.
