È Direttore del Master in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry a Bologna. Il suo focus clinico e di ricerca comprende meccanismi di adesione, sistemi adesivi dentinali e stabilità a lungo termine dei restauri adesivi.
È autore di oltre 300 articoli originali e review peer-reviewed su adesione dentale e materiali restaurativi, con un H-index di 34 e un impact factor cumulativo superiore a 500. Il suo lavoro sul comportamento ultrastrutturale delle interfacce smalto-dentina è tra i più citati al mondo nell'odontoiatria adesiva.
