Programma

The seminar of the legendary professor from the University of Connecticut - Ravindra Nanda - is based on 3 global issues of modern orthodontics:

- the use of temporary anchorage devices in difficult cases
- concepts of biomechanics in orthodontics
- acceleration of orthodontic treatment with the help of piezocision, vibration, LIPUS, biomechanics and surgery.

Dr. Nanda is the author of 8 books that study orthodontists from around the world, as well as an innovator in the field of creating orthodontic appliances and devices.

And all the seminar information is based on numerous clinical studies carried out under the guidance of a lecturer, which, among other things, have long-term results for more than 30 years!

Temporary anchorage devices (TAD). Treatment of the most complicated orthodontic cases

The introduction of Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), safe devices and simple clinical use, has revolutionized the orthodontic world, simplifying otherwise very complex treatments, and making possible treatments otherwise impossible. During the last fifteen years, the use of TADs has deeply transformed our daily orthodontic practice, leading to new protocols and simplified orthodontic biomechanics. Nowadays, TADs are an integral part of orthodontic treatment, especially of complex patients, providing an reliable anchorage and allowing the orthodontists to apply force system which often cannot be applied efficiently with conventional mechanics.

Biomechanics in Orthodontics

However, the careful knowledge of the biomechanics and of the different types of movement, according to the point of application of the forces, of the bone and periodontal support, is still an indispensable element for an effective and efficient orthodontic treatment. Indeed, biomechanics principles are ever more important in designing appliances to deliver predictable force system.

Acceleration of orthodontic treatment: methods of piezocision, vibration, biomechanics and surgery. Latest clinical and scientific research

This is currently a hot subject in orthodontics. Numerous methods and technologies have been proposed and investigated. At our University of Connecticut we have several ongoing clinical and animal experiments (corticision, vibration, piezocision and LIPUS) in progress.  This presentation will discuss in a sequential manner what methods of acceleration are viable and which ones are not. Piezocision, vibration, biomechanics and surgery first methods will be discussed in detail
