Programma

Hands-on workshop by the renowned endodontist Michael Solomonov, held in Warsaw, is dedicated to contemporary root canal instrumentation and the clinical decision-making behind instrument selection.

The main goal of the course is to clarify the real role of stainless steel and nickel-titanium instruments, as well as the place of new-generation “scrubbing” systems in modern endodontics.

During the theoretical part of the course, you will study:

Contemporary principles of root canal instrumentation and clinical instrument selection
The role of stainless steel, nickel-titanium, and “scrubbing” instruments in endodontic practice
Nickel-titanium systems manufactured from controlled memory wire as the basis for primary canal shaping
Key instrument parameters and their impact on safety (taper, cross-sectional design, tip configuration, rake angle)
Major instrumentation-related risks, including excessive coronal and apical enlargement and complications associated with increased taper
Comparison of continuous rotation and reciprocating systems, canal complexity classification, and principles of combining instrumentation systems.

The practical part of the course focuses on root canal instrumentation using continuous rotation systems with reduced taper manufactured from controlled memory wire (MS system). Hands-on training includes canal location and shaping, including calcified and obliterated canals and MB2, scouting, and canal preparation. Results are verified radiographically, and all procedures are performed under an operating microscope.

Participants will benefit from direct guidance and mentorship by Dr. Solomonov, one of the most internationally recognized endodontists, with over 30 years of experience in academic dental education.

Program:

Theory (9:00-18:00):

– Contemporary root canal instrumentation and clinical decision-making
– The role of stainless steel, nickel-titanium, and new-generation “scrubbing” instruments
– Nickel-titanium systems made from controlled memory wire as the standard for primary canal shaping
– Properties, advantages, limitations, and safety in canals of different complexity.

– Key technical parameters of endodontic instruments:

- taper
- cross-sectional design
- tip configuration
- rake angle.

– Instrumentation-related risks:

- excessive coronal enlargement
- apical over-enlargement
- complications associated with increased taper.

– Comparison of continuous rotation and reciprocating systems. Indications, limitations, and common selection errors
– “Scrubbing” instrument systems (SAF, XP, XP-Endo Finisher) and their role in modern endodontics
– Canal complexity classification and practical, case-based recommendations for selecting and combining instrumentation systems.

List of instrumentation systems covered:

– Hyflex, DC Taper, TruNatomy, Race EVO, ProTaper Gold, ProTaper Ultimate
– MS, Mtwo, VDW.Rotate, TruShape, OneCurve
– WaveOne Gold, Reciproc Blue, TF Adaptive
– SAF, XP-Endo Shaper, XP-Endo Finisher, and others.

Practical part (9:00-13:00):

Instrumentation using continuous rotation systems with reduced taper, manufactured from controlled memory wire (MS system).

The hands-on session also features a demonstration of Self-Adjusting File (SAF system).

Hands-on training focused on canal location and negotiation, including:

– calcified and obliterated canals
– MB2 detection and management
– scouting
– canal shaping and refinement.

Radiographic verification of results.

All procedures performed under an operating microscope.

Live demonstrations by Dr. Solomonov, illustrating changes in instrumentation strategy based on canal complexity.

Supervised hands-on practice for all participants.

Participation requirement: attendees must bring extracted teeth with pre-prepared access cavities.
