Basic and advanced levels – maximum knowledge and practice!

 

Each module includes in-depth theory, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice, ensuring that you not only learn but also master all key techniques.

 

Basic module (November 17-19, 2025) – reconstructive periodontal and plastic surgery in the aesthetic zone.

 

You will learn and apply in practice:


– Protocols for treating single and multiple gingival recessions in the upper and lower jaws
– Giovanni Zucchelli’s author's mucogingival surgery techniques
– Management of gingival recessions around implants
– Soft tissue augmentation before implant placement.

 

Advanced module (April 27-29, 2026) – advanced techniques and management of complication in soft tissue plastic surgery.

 

You will deepen your knowledge and refine your skills in:


– Advanced soft tissue techniques around implants
– Mucogingival approach to implant removal in peri-implantitis cases
– Interdental papilla reconstruction for enhanced esthetics and function
– Management of soft tissue complications, including:


- Flap perforation and dehiscence
- Scarring and graft exposure
- Gingival recessions on the palatal root after tissue harvesting.

Day 1, topic – "Aesthetic mucogingival surgery"

– Surgical treatment of a single type recession defect.

– The use of Emdogain®️ in mucogingival surgery
– Connective tissue graft harvesting techniques
– Bilaminar techniques.

– Surgical treatment of multiple recession defects in the upper jaw
– Coronally advanced flap with no vertical releasing incisions
– Site-specific connective tissue graft or collagen matrix application.

– Surgical treatment of multiple recession defects in the lower jaw:


- lower incisors
- the area of mental nerve emergency.

Day 2, topic – “Soft tissue plastic surgery around implants”

– Keratinized tissue height and soft tissue thickness in the prevention of gingival recession around implants
– Treatment of gingival recessions around implants
– Coverage of soft tissue dehiscence/dis-alignment around implants.

– Peri-implant papilla reconstruction
– Multiple edentulous sites
– Tooth extraction for periodontal reason: Healing of the socket, timing of the healing, treatment of periodontal infection
– The mucogingival approach to delayed implant placement after tooth extraction for periodontal reason
– The connective tissue platform technique for single edentulous site
– The modified connective tissue platform technique for single edentulous site
– Peri-implant papilla reconstruction at single implant with adjacent natural teeth
– The mucogingival approach to implant therapy in multiple edentulous sites
– The connective tissue platform technique for multiple edentulous site
– The modified connective tissue platform technique for multiple edentulous site
– Peri-implant papilla reconstruction between two adjacent implants
– Mucogingival approach to full arch implant rehabilitation
– Soft tissue management at pontic sites
– Beyond the limits of soft tissue management around implants
– The connective tissue platform technique for the treatment of esthetic failures around malpositioned implants with peri-implant papilla loss
– The mucogingival approach to implant extraction for peri-implantitis.

– How to prevent and manage soft tissue management complications:


- How to manage flap perforation
- How to manage flap dehiscence
- How to avoid scar formation
- How to manage graft exposure
- How to manage gingival recession at the palatal root after harvesting technique.

Surgical cases on mucogingival surgery.

 

 

Day 3 (09.00 - 13.00) – Hands-on session (pig-jaw)

 

Training on clinical techniques covered during the course (all necessary materials are provided).

Professore di parodontologia e implantologia presso l'Università di Bologna, Italia, dal 2000. Si è laureato all'Università di Bologna nel 1988 e ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in biotecnologie mediche nella stessa università nel 1999. Ha oltre 30 anni di esperienza clinica e accademica, con un focus principale sulla chirurgia plastica parodontale e la gestione dei tessuti molli attorno a denti e impianti.

 

È autore di oltre 100 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste internazionali peer-reviewed, e il suo lavoro clinico e di ricerca ha contribuito in modo significativo allo sviluppo e al perfezionamento degli approcci chirurgici per il trattamento della recessione gengivale e la ricostruzione dei tessuti molli. È destinatario di diversi premi internazionali per la ricerca clinica, tra cui il E. Bud Tarrson Research Award in Oral Plastic Surgery della American Academy of Periodontology Foundation nel 2006 e nel 2008, e il riconoscimento della European Federation of Periodontology. È Associate Editor dell'International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry e membro dei comitati editoriali delle principali riviste di parodontologia.

 

È autore del libro Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery, pubblicato da Quintessence nel 2012, ampiamente utilizzato come riferimento nel settore. È membro attivo della European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, EAED, della Italian Society of Periodontology, SIdP, della Italian Academy of Osseointegration, IAO, e della European Federation of Periodontology, EFP.
