Radiographic imaging has always been a cornerstone in orthodontic treatment planning. In recent years, there have been multiple advances in imaging, notably the advent of conebeam CT, that have enhanced the diagnostic process of the oral and maxillofacial complex greatly.
For the first time, we are able to evaluate the TMJs and the teeth simultaneously and note the position of the condyle in the fossa with the teeth in maximum intercuspation, thus assessing the relationship of the occlusion to the condition of the TMJ.
Many other diagnostic tasks are also facilitated, such as the evaluation of the position and condition of impacted teeth, evaluation of the airway and its relationship to craniomandibular growth, and morphology of the jaws over time.
This 2-day course will discuss the effect of the TMJ function and dysfunction on mandibular growth and modeling of the bones, as well as its effect on the development of the airway and changes in occlusion, as assessed on radiographic imaging (plain film, CBCT and MRI). There will be a thorough presentation of assessment of the airway radiographically, including some background information on these diagnostic tasks. The method for how to read a conebeam CT and the investigation of dental impactions and pathology radiographically will also be discussed.
The venue of the event – 64, Khojali Avenue, Baku, Azerbaijan 1025.
