Full immersion into reconstructive and plastic surgery of soft tissues around teeth and implants awaits you in a practical course with the legendary Giovanni Zucchelli!
Theoretical sessions, hands-on practice, live surgeries, and video demonstrations — all of this will be included in the course.
During the two intensive days of theoretical sessions, you will learn:
– Treatment protocols of single and multiple recessions in the upper and lower jaw
– The author's techniques of mucogingival surgery
– Treatment of recession around implants
– Soft tissue augmentation prior to implant placement.
The third day will be entirely devoted to performing live surgeries and practicing hands-on exercises (on a pig jaw) under the guidance of Giovanni Zucchelli.

DAY 1. Topic - Aesthetic mucogingival surgery

– Combined restorative-periodontal treatment for the aesthetic goal
– Treatment of cervical abrasion defects associated with gingival recession: selection of the most appropriate treatment approach.

– The use of Emdogain®️ in mucogingival surgery
– The use of collagen matrix in mucogingival surgery
– Connective tissue graft harvesting techniques

– Surgical treatment of multiple recession defects in the upper jaw
– Coronally advanced flap with no vertical releasing incisions
– Site-specific connective tissue graft or collagen matrix application.

- lower incisors
- the area of mental nerve emergency.

DAY 2. Topic - Soft tissue plastic surgery around implants

– Biology of bone: alveolar vs bundle
– Keratinized tissue height and soft tissue thickness in the prevention of gingival recession around implants
– Increase of keratinized tissue height before and after implant installation
– The "submarginal connective tissue graft technique".

– Coverage of soft tissue dehiscence/dis-alignment around implants.

Professore di Parodontologia e Implantologia e Responsabile del Dipartimento di Parodontologia e Igiene Dentale presso l'Università di Bologna, Italia. Coordinatore del Corso di Laurea in Igiene Dentale presso l'Università di Bologna. Fondatore e Direttore dello Zucchelli Institute, Bologna.
Oltre 37 anni di esperienza clinica e accademica in chirurgia plastica parodontale e gestione dei tessuti molli attorno a denti e impianti. Laureato presso l'Università di Bologna (1988) e conseguito il PhD in Biotecnologie Mediche dalla stessa università (1999). Nominato Professore di Parodontologia presso l'Università di Bologna nel 2000, mantenendo questa posizione continuativamente per oltre 25 anni. Pioniere e innovatore di molteplici tecniche chirurgiche per ricostruzione dei tessuti molli incluso Lembo Coronalmente Avanzato Modificato, tecnica della Piattaforma di Tessuto Connettivo e protocolli per ricostruzione della papilla.
Autorità internazionale sulla chirurgia estetica mucogengivale avendo tenuto conferenze e eseguito dimostrazioni chirurgiche dal vivo a importanti congressi in tutto il mondo. Vincitore di prestigiosi premi di ricerca: AAP Foundation-E Bud Tarrson Research Award in Oral Plastic Surgery (2006, 2008), European Federation of Periodontology Clinical Research Prize (2006) e AAP Foundation Lilly Research Award for Clinical Research (2003). Ha pubblicato oltre 130 articoli scientifici in riviste internazionali peer-reviewed con ampio record di citazioni. Ricercatore più citato sulle procedure di copertura delle recessioni globalmente.
DDS dall'Università di Bologna (1988). PhD in Biotecnologie Mediche dall'Università di Bologna (1999). Membro attivo della European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED), Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP), Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO) e European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). Editor Associato dell'International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. Membro del Comitato Editoriale dell'International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Journal of Clinical Periodontology e Journal of Periodontology. Revisore peer per le riviste parodontali più classificate. Autore del bestseller internazionale "Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery" (Quintessence, 2012), tradotto in 12 lingue e riconosciuto come riferimento definitivo sulla chirurgia plastica parodontale. Coautore del capitolo "Mucogingival Therapy—Periodontal Plastic Surgery" in "Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry" di Lindhe, Lang e Karring. Direttore del programma Master in Gestione dei Tessuti Molli Attorno a Denti e Impianti presso l'Università di Bologna.
